Sloped properties near the water are beautiful - but getting up and down them safely is a whole different story. A steep hillside with no real path is a hazard every single time someone walks it. That's exactly what we were dealing with here, and it's the kind of problem we genuinely love solving.

We built a full concrete step system running the length of the slope, connecting the lower concrete pad all the way up to the deck level above. The steps are wide, consistent, and built to handle years of use without shifting or settling. On one side, natural boulders were set along the slope to hold the grade and keep everything clean. On the other side, a block retaining wall ties the stairway into the structure of the property.

Midway up, we tied in a paver landing - giving walkers a natural place to pause and change direction. The grey pavers sit flush and level, and the whole thing flows together in a way that feels intentional rather than patched together. That's something we pay close attention to on properties like this, where the landscape already has so much character.

Three days of work in hot, humid conditions - and our crew pushed through without cutting corners. That's just how we operate. When you're building something permanent, the conditions on the day don't get to dictate the quality of the outcome.

The finished result is a stairway that's practical, safe, and fits the wooded setting naturally. No more slipping down a muddy hillside to get to the lake. Just a solid, good-looking path that works the way it should - every single day.
