One word drove every decision on this one - cleanliness. The client knew what they wanted, and we sat down with them, listened, and built a plan around that exact vision. No guesswork, no cookie-cutter layout. Just a clean, intentional design made specifically for this property.
Starting out front, we installed amber-colored concrete curbing that ties directly into the warm red tones of the house. That detail matters more than people realize. When your edging color complements the exterior of your home, the whole front yard feels like it belongs together. We filled the beds with river rock and tucked in perennials along the walkway to give it life without making it feel busy.
Around back, we carried the same concrete curbing along the fence line and filled it with matching river rock. Then came the emerald green arborvitaes - planted in a clean row that adds structure and a pop of deep green against the white vinyl fence. Those trees are going to fill in beautifully and give the yard a defined, polished look for years to come.
The bed maintenance side of this is one of the biggest reasons homeowners go with river rock over mulch. No annual topping off, no blowing out of the beds after a storm, and virtually no weeding when it's installed right. The concrete curbing keeps everything exactly where it's supposed to be, season after season.
This is what landscape design should feel like - a finished yard that looks like it was always supposed to look that way. Every element working together, nothing out of place.
