Commercial properties don't get a second chance at a first impression. Every customer walking up to that building is making a judgment call before they ever reach the door. That's exactly why the landscaping around a place like a bank has to look sharp - not just on day one, but week after week.

Here's what we were working with at Nicolet National Bank: multiple bed areas wrapping the building, some needing fresh mulch and cleanup, others that were better suited for a rock and gravel approach. We went with dark mulch in the front-facing beds along the building's facade and a clean gravel fill in the larger island beds throughout the parking lot. Both materials were chosen with one goal in mind - low maintenance that still looks professional.

The gravel beds around the back and side areas made a lot of sense here. With HVAC units and utility equipment sitting in those spaces, you need ground cover that holds up, doesn't blow around, and doesn't create a mess every time someone walks through. Rock does exactly that. Pair it with a few well-placed evergreen shrubs and a small accent boulder, and you've got a bed that looks intentional without demanding constant attention.

The mulched beds along the front are where the clean, finished look really comes through. Fresh dark mulch against the light stone facade of the building is a strong contrast - it frames the structure well and keeps the eye moving in the right direction. Bed maintenance was part of the scope here too, making sure edges were defined and everything was tidy before the mulch went down. That prep work is what separates a good-looking job from one that fades fast.

For any commercial property manager or business owner, the math is simple. Well-kept landscaping signals that you care about your property - and by extension, your customers. We work with commercial clients to build out beds that are easy to maintain and hold up through the seasons without constant intervention.
